Become admin

Add your SteamID64 (17 digits, find it on steamid.io) to AdminUsers.ini, one per line. The file is read when the server starts, so restart the server after editing it. Then type commands in the in-game chat with a # first.

Chat commands

Status: Valid means we checked in-game that it works. Unverified means a public guide or the game lists it, but we have not checked it in-game. In the examples, the amounts, the player name and the item codes are only examples: change them to what you need.

Command Status What it does
#ListPlayers Valid Lists the players online.
#ListItems Valid Prints every item code of your game version (2,572 on 1.3.4.2) in the game's log file.
#spawnitem Apple
#spawnitem Water_05l
Valid Gives you an item from its code. Use any code of the item list (see the downloads below).
#SetCurrencyBalance Normal 10000 PlayerName Valid Sets the money of a player. Normal is the regular money and 10000 is the amount: change it to any number (500, 100000...).
#ChangeCurrencyBalance Gold 5 PlayerName Valid Changes the gold of a player. Gold is the currency and 5 is the amount: change it as you like.
#NightBrightness 1 Valid Night brightness, from 0 (dark) to 1 (bright). Only for you, not the whole server.
#SetTime 12 Valid Sets the time of day, from 0 to 24.
#ListZombies
#ListAnimals
Valid Lists the zombie and animal types.
#ListSpawnedVehicles
#ListSpawnedArmedNPCs
Valid Lists what is alive in the world. The result shows in the chat only, not in the log.
#MapTeleport Unverified Teleport through the map.
#SetImmortality true
#SetImmortality false
Unverified Damage immunity on, then off.
#SetFamePoints 500 PlayerName Unverified Sets the fame points of a player.
#SetGodMode Unverified Instant building, not invulnerability.

Launch and run a SCUM server: on a hosted server or locally

The two settings files work the same way everywhere: the server reads them when it starts, so stop the server, replace the files, then start it again.

Hosted server

On a rented server, upload your ServerSettings.ini and EconomyOverride.json through the host's file or settings page while the server is stopped, then start it again. The screens differ from one host to another, so check your host's help for where the files go.

Local server [free]

A local server on your own PC lets you play online for free with your friends, for example, or even try your settings and/or prices before putting a bigger server online:

  1. In Steam, install the free SCUM Server tool.
  2. Copy your ServerSettings.ini and EconomyOverride.json into the folder SCUM\Saved\Config\WindowsServer of the tool. Give your server a name so you can spot it (we added [TEST] to ours).
  3. Start SCUMServer.exe -log -port=7777 from SCUM\Binaries\Win64. Loading the map takes about two minutes.
  4. In the game, open the direct connect box and type 127.0.0.1:7779. This is what worked for us with a server started with -port=7777: the connection port was 7779, two above the game port, and typing 7777 failed. Tested on the same PC as the game; with another -port value the port may differ.
  5. Stop the server with Ctrl+C in its window.

The server log is SCUM\Saved\Logs\SCUM.log in the tool folder. Your own game log, where command results show up, is in %LOCALAPPDATA%\SCUM\Saved\Logs.

Settings files

File What it holds
ServerSettings.ini All server settings (440 keys, ASCII text).
EconomyOverride.json Trader settings and per-item prices. Every value is written as quoted text.
AdminUsers.ini The admins, one SteamID64 per line.

See the settings pages for what each value does on FISTILAND.

Download the config files

Each file comes in two versions, so you can compare them. FISTILAND are the versions our server uses. And SCUM are the versions as the game provides them by default, and so also a good starting point if you want to begin from scratch.

File Which one What it is
ServerSettings_FISTILAND.ini FISTILAND The settings of the FISTILAND server.
ServerSettings_SCUM.ini SCUM The default settings.
EconomyOverride_FISTILAND.json FISTILAND Trader settings of FISTILAND: no fame requirement, traders always stocked and funded, fixed prices.
EconomyOverride_SCUM.json SCUM The trader file with the values the game starts with.
SCUM_item_codes_1.3.4.2.txt Data All 2,572 item codes of game version 1.3.4.2, one per line (from the #ListItems command).
Armory_SCUM_prices_A0.csv Data The Armory trader prices of the base game, read in game at outpost A0 (about 380 lines).

For all the files available for download, the server address, the ports and the passwords have been removed on purpose; do not forget to do the same if you share your own files afterwards.
